" In January 2009, I decided to participate in the Health and Wellness Program. I was extremely disgusted with myself the first session because I realizied how out of shape I really was. There were approximately 30 people participating in the session and all were exercising at different levels. Some were walking and doing modified versions on various exercises and some were really impressive with their intensity level. The instructors have a rare talent for being able to motivate you as if they were working with you one on one. They seem to know your strengths and weaknesses and are able to push you to your maximum capacity. Since I was just beginning an exercise program, the instructors focused on slowely increasing my ability to do a little more each session. When I first began, I ran some, but mostly walked. Each session, the instructors pushed me a little more and now I have advanced to running most of the time, instead of walking. I never thought I would be able to do or feel the way I am feeling now. Participating in this program has completely changed the way I think about exercising as well as the way that I eat. Instead of making excuses as to why I can not exercise, I am looking forward to it because I feel so satisfied after I complete a session. I am truly thankful that I have made the decision to participate in the Health and Wellness program and I have even started to see the positive changes in my body. I am convinced that I will reach my goal and live a healthier life in the process."

" I have been atheltic all of my life; nevretheless, I have always struggled with having large thighs and hips. I have had gym memberships for many years, participating in aerobics and weight training classes, along with using elliptical machines and treadmills. My weight has fluctuated throughout the years, however,since enrolling in the Health and Wellness Program, I have never felt so physically fit. I have my cholesterol and blood pressure reading as proof. What makes the Health and Wellness program so successful is the informative guidance that tis program provides regarding diet and exercise along with strenuous physical classes. Whether the class contains an extreme super athlete or the older person just starting to become active, all participants are able to benefit from the workouts. In addition, the time the instructors spend getting to know the class members creates an environment focusing on individual attention and continued motivation. The Health and Wellness program is like having a personal trainer with the advantage of class encouragement. I truly believe I am on the path of a life change that will benefit me mentally and physically as I continue to age."

" I have been very athletic all of my life, participating in a number of sports. Several years ago, I was jogging approximately 25 miles a week, weightlifting, attending step/water aerobic classes, playing basketball and softball. However, in 1999, a bout with pneumonia caused my breathing capacity to deteriorate such that I was forced to use oxygen on exertion. Ultimately, I underwent a double lung transplant in March 2006. In August 2008, I became a regular participant in the Health and Wellness Fitness program. This program has literally changed my life both physically and mentally. My breathing capacity has improved so drastically that my doctors cannot believe my progress. They initially could not understand why I joined such a strenuous program, but since realizing the substantial increase in my breathing capacity and overall excellent health, they have strongly encouraged me to continue. I am so much more energetic and outgoing, making it hard for people to believe I had a transplant just three years ago. My new attitude and overall improvement are directly attributed to this program. I thoroughly enjoy the training and encouragement."

" I was absolutley disgusted with myself: Summer was soon approaching and I had gained weight and couldn't fit into my clothes; I was eating fast food out of convenience; and I was out of shape and experiencing difficulty doing anything strenuous. My self-esteem was at a new low. Much to my delight, the 14-week Health and Wellness Program offered a hope for a healthier lifestyle through diet and exercise. From the first session, I knew I would like the structure of the program. The focus was on core and cardiovascular strengthing. I started slowly and built up my stamina over time. The instructors were very motivational and they pushed you to your maximum capacity each and every session. No two sessions were ever the same. When we began, it was a real struggle just for me to get into a pushup or sit-up position. Now they're part of my regular routine along with crunches and planks! Through the classroom sessions, we learned about eating modifications, which also helped turn my life around. I am eating healthy now with a diet high in fruit and vegetables. I have lost 16 pounds and just as important, strengthened my core muscles and upper body. I am well on my way to my goal. My doctor was amazed during a recent visit: My bad cholesterol has dropped almost 30 points, my Triglyceride more than 20, and my good cholesterol has gone up! I am an avid golfer and for the first time just a few weeks ago, I WALKED the course rather than taking an electric cart! And I have taken between 5-10 strokes off my game due to the transformation to a healthier me! This has been another outstanding networking opportunity at Booz Allen as well. We encouraged each other and fed off each other's successes. The program is held at convenient hours(after work), at a convenient location (NBP 134), and is reasonably priced- less than a gym membership! Thanks to participation in the Health and Wellness Fitness Program, I have gotten my self-esteem back and my attitude and overall improvement are directly attributed to the program."

" I had been looking for an exercise program to participate in for a while and was very happy to see this one offered with the support of Booz Allen. As my age advanced, I started to realize what poor physical shape I was in when it was a strain to turn and look backward while backing up a car. I had not realizied how much my physical abilities had deteriorated until I took the Health and Wellness Fitness Programs evaluation tests. This program has drastically improved my flexibility, muscle tone, and endurance. I have lost a great deal of fat around my waist and I am more energetic. None of this would have been possible without the expertise of the instructors (Mike, Darren, Diane and Alerte) and the positive motivation and encouragement of the participants and instructors. The Health and Wellness Program has put me on a very positive health track for the future.
